JUSTICE SERVED!

Justice Served!

On 28.11.2025, a significant judgment was delivered by the Court of the Ld. Additional District Judge-1, Bongaon, bringing long-awaited justice in the tragic death of Etu Biswas (Priya)—a young woman whose life was cut short due to relentless cruelty within her marital home.

Bongaon PS Case No. 359/2022 began on 9 April 2022, after Etu’s mother, Smt. Mamata Biswas, lodged a complaint alleging severe mental and physical torture over dowry demands by Etu’s husband and in-laws. Married for three years and mother to a young child, Etu had suffered repeated abuse and neglect since the beginning of her marriage.

On the night of 8 April 2022, the cruelty reached its fatal peak. Etu was found brutally assaulted and was later declared dead at Bongaon J.R. Dhar S.D. Hospital.

Following a thorough investigation by SI Matiear Baidya, all accused persons were arrested, and relevant charges were framed based on the findings.

On 28 November 2025, the Ld. ADJ-I, Bongaon Court pronounced life imprisonment under Sections 498A/302/34 IPC against all four accused:
Rathindranath Sen (Husband)
Rabindranath Sen (Father-in-Law)
Supta Rani Sen (Mother-in-Law)
Rajat Sen (Brother-in-Law)

The prosecution was led by Learned Addl. Public Prosecutor Shri Sandip Bhattacharyee (Barasat Court), whose dedicated efforts ensured that the truth prevailed.

This verdict stands as a powerful reminder that the law remains firm against domestic violence and dowry-related cruelty. Justice may take time, but it does arrive—and it has arrived for Etu Biswas.
